A force for creativity - The Creative Perspective with TreeColours

TreeColours Creative Centre opened their doors in September 2025. The welcoming arts centre strives to create an inclusive space for creatives of all kind! Owners Victor and Remi look forward to welcoming you into their space to create, shop and connect!

Tell us about your business' journey - do you recall how you first discovered your interest and passion for your work?

We started out with the Strathroy market as a way of both getting Remi’s art out there and as a way to be involved with the community. We decided to set up a “design your own” jewellery station, to go through Remi’s craft supplies, but found it was really fun and fulfilling to help others be creative. We continued being seasonal vendors at the market and loved inspiring creativity and becoming even more involved in the community. The natural extension of that was to set a up a permanent spot for people to gather, get supplies, collaborate, and just have fun without the fear that comes with being creative and putting yourself out there!

Tell us about your business. What services or products do you provide? What is your vision and what are your goals?

We are primarily an arts and crafts supply store! But we also offer workshops and services to help people explore their creativity! We hold contests and spotlight local artists. We also host parties and events, like casual paint nights! Our goal is to be a little hub for artists, and aspiring artists to express themselves without fear! We want to be welcoming and make art approachable! We want to become a staple of the community where people know they can come to us for their supplies or to enjoy our free services (we always have the table set up for people to come by and enjoy some time painting, drawing, building Lego, playing with modelling clay, or colouring)!

Our goal is to be a little hub for artists, and aspiring artists to express themselves without fear!

What is the most challenging part of running your business - and what’s the most rewarding?

The most challenging part is juggling all the different hats. We have to run the shop, inventory, deal with suppliers and everything that comes with that. But we also have to make 2 workshops a week and plan out events and social media.

The most rewarding thing is, as corny as it sounds, seeing people smile when they’re at the shop. There’s nothing better than a bright, genuine smile!

How do you hope people feel or what do you hope they take away when they visit your business?

We want people to feel welcome and comfortable. We want them to see the possibilities inside their mind and to know that they are amongst friends!

What role do you think small businesses or community groups, especially in the creative field, play in a community like ours?

Creative community groups are great for bringing people together and enriching our lives! Small businesses and creative communities help build and foster relations in the community. We hope to be a force for creativity, an easy off-ramp that lets people explore their creativity in a friendly environment. We hope to push people into crafts that they might not have explored otherwise and push people along on their creative journeys! We also hope to be a place where the creative community feels like they have a home~

What’s next for you - are there any upcoming projects, events, or milestones you’re excited to share?

Foxxo, the stuffed fox sits amoung yarn on a shelf

We constantly have new workshops and contests going on and new products of course. We’ll be opening up our 3D printing/button/sticker services properly soon too!

And board game are in the works too, we hope to be able to show people that they can make more than they imagine~
