Tell us about your creative journey - do you recall how you first discovered your interest and passion for the arts?
In 2009 I was gifted some canvas, paints, and paint brushes and I was hooked. I have been painting ever since. I am a self taught abstract artist and love to paint with bright bold colours. I paint to music most of the time. It inspires me! Painting is my passion, so much so that I now have a small gallery and studio space in my own home. I offer small workshops at my gallery/home studio and will go out to the venue of choice to host larger workshops. I have most recently had a month long exhibition at Museum Strathroy-Caradoc and it was tremendously successful. I am currently concentrating on growing my business and continue to work hard to get my work into Collectors' homes.
Talk about your style. What defines your art? What do you pull inspiration from?
I would say colour and intuition define my art. I listen to music when I paint. I love music and I cannot imagine life without it. It inspires me and I paint how I feel.
It is an incredible feeling. I never get over that; it is so special.
What’s the most challenging part of being an artist - and what’s the most rewarding?
I find the most challenging part of being an artist is finding mentorship and getting seen. It really is trial and error sometimes. You have to hustle and keep putting yourself and your art out there. When you do the rewards do come. The most rewarding thing for me as an artist is when someone purchases a piece of your art. I am so humbled and grateful that a piece moves someone so much that they have to buy it. It is the greatest compliment. It is an incredible feeling. I never get over that; it is so special.
How do you hope people feel or what do you hope they take away when they experience your art?
My hope is that my art moves people and makes them feel happy. I also hope that people who register for my workshops will find an outlet to find their own creative voices. Even if you are not looking to be an artist, art classes can provide so many health benefits. In this crazy world we need the arts!!
What role do you think art plays in a community like ours?
I think art plays a vital role in our community. It is proven that art is so important for kids for their cognitive functions, beneficial for how they learn and it isn't just in visual arts it is all forms. We have to keep promoting the arts. These are the very things that are being removed from our schools. Art is important!

What’s next for you—are there any upcoming projects, shows, events, or goals you’re excited to share?

I continue to paint everyday. The next event I have on my plate is my Open House being held November 16th from 1pm until 4pm. It really is the launch of my home studio. It wasn't ready last year. I will be clearing out some items, I will have some limited prints available for purchase and I will have gift cards for purchase! There will be some draws and a selfie area to take pics with me! I encourage people to bring their friends!! There will be more info coming soon on my socials!!
